Is This the Real World

In the authentic world, you’re often compelled to make concessions, as doing whatever you please isn’t always feasible. Mark Blazey, a seventeen-year-old from a tumultuous family in a semi-industrial coastal town, rejects the constraints of this reality. Despite being a bright student, he forfeited a private school scholarship, landing instead at the local high school, where a domineering principal closely scrutinizes him. At home, challenges abound: his brother faces prison, his grandmother struggles with her health, and his mother copes with her short temper through alcohol. His protective instincts reach out to his little sister. Discovering his first true love presents a chance to escape these pressures, but she turns out to be the daughter of his adversary, the principal, intensifying the conflicts between Mark and the authoritative figures in his life.
