Kidnap Capital

Consider the scenario where you leave behind your entire life, everyone familiar, and everything beloved. Embark on a perilous journey across half a continent by foot, hitching rides atop freight trains and squeezed into truck trailers. Brave untamed rivers and illegally cross international borders. Trudge through the unforgiving Arizona desert, shot at, robbed, beaten, and endure unimaginable violations along the way. Yet, despite all adversities, you survive and finally step into the United States after escaping the destitution of Central America. Even in this “promised” land, however, your existence is overshadowed by legal and social exclusion. You don’t speak the language, your arrival is anonymous, your life is invisible. Now, picture being thrust into further turmoil: a bag yanks over your head, stripped of your clothes, and confined in a room with many unknown faces. A gun is pressed against your head as you’re forced to beg your family back home for ransom money. Stream “Kidnap Capital (2016)” to witness this heart-wrenching narrative.
