King of the Belgians

In “King of the Belgians,” the nation’s monarch finds himself on a diplomatic trip in Istanbul when his homeland comes undone. Urgently needing to get back to rescue his realm, he’s faced with a solar storm that has rendered both the skies and lines of communication useless. With no planes or phones in sight, the King, aided by a British filmmaker and a lively group of Bulgarian folk singers, embarks on a clandestine journey across the border. This marks the start of an adventure throughout the Balkans, where he encounters the true essence of the world and gains insight into his own identity.
