Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter

In the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, Kumiko, a 29-year-old, leads a life of complete isolation. Her job is monotonous, with an unpleasant boss, and she finds herself overshadowed by her affluent peers. Her overbearing mother constantly pressures her about not being in a relationship or married. Kumiko finds comfort in two loves: a worn-out VHS tape of an American movie featuring a man hiding money in the cold Midwestern landscape, and her cherished rabbit, Bunzo. Believing fervently in the existence of this treasure, she becomes fixated on finding it. Armed with a handcrafted treasure map and a dreamer’s heart, Kumiko sets off on an extraordinary adventure across the Pacific Ocean, braving the icy terrain of Minnesota in search of the alleged riches.
