Made in Romania

“Made in Romania” chronicles the journey of a producer seizing the opportunity to bring his dream project to life—a film adaptation of the little-known yet elegantly crafted Victorian novel, “The Tides of Reason.” Tired of producing low-budget genre films, he eagerly agrees to the conditions set by his dubious backers, including filming entirely in Romania to exploit a complex and somewhat dubious tax incentive. Presented in a documentary style, this comedic exploration peels back the curtain on the often-chaotic world of runaway film production. In the remote and unfamiliar landscape of rural Romania, the production quickly descends into chaos as bizarre characters and cultural, economic, and language barriers converge, creating a storm of madness.
