Meet the Patels

Searching for love can be a daunting task. For Ravi Patel, a first-generation Indian-American, the chances of finding his perfect match seem slim. He envisions a partner who is not only beautiful, intelligent, funny, and family-oriented but also, in line with his cultural traditions, Indian (preferably raised in the US). Additionally, her last name should be Patel, as it’s common in India for Patels to marry within the community. As he turns 30, Ravi makes the tough decision to leave his American girlfriend, who is ideal in many ways except for her red hair and American identity, to embark on an international quest to find another Patel to share his life with. He seeks assistance from his matchmaking mother, attends a convention of Patels residing in America, and journeys to India during the wedding season. This light-hearted, sincere, and touching comedy delves into universal dilemmas like the true essence of love, the nature of happiness, and the elusive journey to finding both.
