Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

In 1942, British soldier Jack Celliers arrives at a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, overseen by the strict and honorable Yonoi. Yonoi holds a rigid belief that surrendering is cowardice, and he values discipline and glory above all else. Among the captives is John Lawrence, an interpreter who attempts to bridge the cultural divide and explain the Japanese perspective but ends up being viewed as a traitor by some of his fellow prisoners.
