Misunderstood

Set in Rome during 1984, “Misunderstood” follows the life of nine-year-old Aria, a girl caught in the turmoil of her parents’ crumbling marriage. Her immature and self-centered parents are more focused on their job prospects and extramarital affairs, neglecting Aria’s needs entirely. Unlike her older sisters, who receive ample attention, Aria is met with emotional detachment. Despite her loneliness, Aria longs for affection and acceptance. At school, she stands out academically but struggles to fit in socially, remaining misunderstood by her peers. Aria finds solace and comfort with her beloved cat, Dac, and her best friend, Angelica. However, as familial conflicts escalate, she is cast out by both parents, and even Angelica eventually turns away, leaving Aria feeling abandoned and isolated. At her breaking point, she decides to take an unexpected step in her life. Watch “Misunderstood” online for free.
