Nouvelle Vague

A young Jean-Luc Godard, after contributing to Cahiers du cinéma, determines that producing films is the ultimate form of film criticism. He manages to persuade producer Georges de Beauregard to back a modestly budgeted movie, collaborating with fellow New Wave auteur François Truffaut to craft a story centered around a couple embroiled in gangster life. This ambitious project leads to “Breathless,” a seminal work that marks the onset of the Nouvelle Vague era in French cinema. Watch Nouvelle Vague (2025) here.
