Padre Pio

Set in the aftermath of World War I, young Italian soldiers return to the impoverished land of San Giovanni Rotondo, which is bound by a history of violence and the rigid dominance of the church and affluent landowners. The community is in despair; while the soldiers may have come back with victory, their spirits are shattered. Amid this backdrop, Padre Pio arrives at a secluded Capuchin monastery, where he begins his ministry and is surrounded by an aura of charisma, holiness, and powerful visions of Jesus, Mary, and the Devil. As Italy approaches its first free election, a metaphorically apocalyptic massacre unfolds, altering the course of history. Watch “Padre Pio (2023)” for free online!
