Set against the backdrop of an inexpensive brothel near an ancient Athens stronghold, a man reflects on the grand episodes of his life. His journey for affection and fame is shared and experienced by various individuals: a prostitute burdened by her past, a gangster pursued by misfortune, and an icon painter who has lost his spirituality – In one tale, he discovers wealth, in another, he becomes a roaming prophet, and in a different one, he goes back to his wife.
