Poker

In the annals of Romanian cinema, Sergiu Nicolaescu is synonymous with being prolific, commercially successful, and professional. At 80, he released his latest film, marking his second foray into comedy after a series of action and historical works. “Poker” is based on Adrian Lustig’s play and revolves around four friends epitomizing various societal facets: a morally challenged doctor, an unscrupulous politician, a local mafia leader, and a businessman who amassed wealth in America. Produced by MediaPro Pictures, the film delves into the themes of immorality and political intrigue, portraying modern Romania as a jungle where power plays are akin to an endless poker game—only the ones with the winning cards prevail.
