Prick Up Your Ears

Directed by Stephen Frears, this biographical drama delves into the life of the provocative British playwright Joe Orton, whose tumultuous story is unraveled through flashbacks following his tragic murder by his partner, Kenneth Halliwell. Born in 1933 in Leicester, Joe Orton relocated to London in 1951 to attend RADA, embracing a public gay relationship with Halliwell in the iconic Islington flat during the 1960s. However, Orton’s meteoric rise with plays like ‘What the Butler Saw’ and ‘Loot’ strains their relationship as Halliwell begins to feel isolated, casting doubt on their future together.
