Queen Margot

On the night of August 24, 1572, a significant event known as the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre occurs amidst the backdrop of a fierce religious war in France. To broker a tenuous peace, a politically motivated marriage is orchestrated between Margot de Valois—sister to the young Catholic King Charles IX—and the Protestant King Henri of Navarre. Meanwhile, Catherine de Medici exerts her clandestine influence through orchestrated attacks, poisonings, and manipulative schemes. Queen Margot (1994) is an intriguing film.
