Rivers of Croatia

The rivers in Croatia possess a distinctiveness within Europe, offering stability to the delicate balance of natural processes. However, this balance is threatened as human activities encroach upon these vulnerable ecosystems. This film takes viewers on a journey through the winding lowland rivers that feed into expansive floodplains, capturing breathtaking images of cascading waterfalls, and highlighting the vibrant limestone springs along with the fertile landscapes of the Karlovac region. The camera gracefully sweeps over the interior valleys, or ‘Karst Polje,’ where annual rainfall fills shallow basins, allowing underground waterways to emerge elsewhere as serene rivers and streams. We also get to witness the grand Adriatic rivers as they make their way to the sea, coursing through the swift estuaries of the impressive Zrmanja canyon or the mighty Neretva delta.
