Robocall

G.T. Benz, a Vietnam veteran and recent widower, is grappling with the challenges of aging and loneliness, all the while being constantly harassed by a persistent robo-caller. His routine, filled with monotony and irritation, is only brightened by weekly gatherings with his old Vietnam comrades, who were also ex-fighter pilots like himself. He eagerly anticipates a visit from his long-absent daughter, Tricia, whom he considers “my only reason for living,” especially after receiving a troubling diagnosis from his doctor, which intensifies his yearning to see her one final time. Unbeknownst to her father’s health struggles, Tricia keeps postponing her visit. Adding to his distress, a ‘Nam buddy passes away, and the robocalls grow increasingly invasive. As a manipulative woman from his past resurfaces, G.T.’s life spirals into turmoil, pushing him toward a desperate action. Robocall (2019) is available online.
