Sarmasik

After enduring months without pay, the frustrated crew of a Turkish cargo ship docks in an Egyptian port, only to discover that the Port Authority is moving to seize the vessel. Forced to anchor offshore, the skeleton crew sees their passports confiscated, compelling them to remain on board until the owner’s debts are cleared. As time passes, tensions mount between the strict Cypriot captain and his devoutly religious second-in-command, an easy-going cook, and a group of newcomers comprising two reckless slackers and a silent, imposing Kurd. As the weeks turn into months, resources become scarce, loyalties waver, and the crew’s pent-up anger is unleashed upon one another. Watch Sarmasik (2015).
