Savannah

Savannah portrays the captivating true tale of Ward Allen, a spirited and eloquent individual who turns his back on his plantation upbringing to embrace the untamed life along the river. Set in the transformative period of early 20th century America, Ward challenges societal norms and laws with the steady companionship of Christmas Moultrie, a freed slave and his loyal friend. Known for both his expertise in Shakespearean verse and his skill with a shotgun, Ward plays an integral role in providing fowl for Savannah’s markets, staunchly defending his hunting rights. His passionate speeches and magnetic personality capture the heart of a high-society woman who boldly chooses him over her father’s wishes. As an elderly Christmas Moultrie recounts his adventures with Ward to a young boy, the legend of Ward Allen finds a new generation to inspire.
