Saving Banksy

In April 2010, the world-famous graffiti artist Banksy left his signature street art on the walls of San Francisco. This seemingly simple act of vandalism set off an unexpected series of events, involving the removal of one of his iconic rats from a wall. Shockingly, museums declined the opportunity to acquire a free piece of Banksy’s work, while a New York gallerist saw this as a business opportunity and began traveling the world to acquire Banksy’s street pieces — all driven by his determination to obtain that specific rat.
