Asia’s Next Top Model is part of the popular Top Model reality TV franchise, in which women from across Asia vie for the prestigious title and an opportunity to break into the modeling industry. This exciting competition brings together aspiring models from the Far East, including participants from the South Asian subcontinent. Set to debut on Ice-TV in mid-2012, the show was made possible through a groundbreaking agreement with CBS for a Pan-Asian adaptation. Initially, casting began on March 28, 2012, and was intended to conclude by May 5, but the deadline was later extended to May 21. Produced in Singapore, the show promised a blend of diverse talent and captivating challenges.
The announcement on April 11 revealed that Nadya Hutagalung would serve as the Head Judge and Host, with other prominent figures like Fashion Director Daniel Boey, Fashion Photographer Todd Anthony Tyler, and model Joey Mead King joining as judges. By early October, STAR World and Channel 8 introduced the 14 finalists representing 13 different countries across South, Southeast, and East Asia. The series was originally set to premiere on November 4, 2012, but due to financial constraints, the global premiere on STAR World was delayed to November 25. In the end, 27-year-old Jessica Amornkuldilok from Thailand emerged as the winner of the first cycle.
