Being Erica

Being Erica is a Canadian comedy-drama series that aired on CBC from January 5, 2009, to December 12, 2011. Initially named The Session, this series was created by Jana Sinyor and eventually retitled Being Erica at its 2009 launch. Produced by Temple Street Productions and distributed worldwide by BBC Worldwide, the show features Erin Karpluk as Erica Strange. Erica’s life takes an unexpected turn when she meets a therapist who possesses the unique ability to send her back in time to revisit, and possibly alter, her past regrets. In Canada, the series’ second season, which consisted of only 12 episodes due to CBC’s budget constraints, began airing on September 22, 2009. The CBC announced on May 11, 2010, that the show would have a third season with 13 episodes, and Soapnet also picked up the full third season. The third season premiered on CBC Television on September 21, 2010, at 9 pm ET, while Soapnet began airing it in the U.S. on January 26, 2011. Although the CBC never officially cancelled the show, its fourth and final season aired in the fall of 2011, with creator Sinyor indicating that the series had reached its natural end.
