Black Books

“Black Books” revolves around the irritable and quirky owner of a bookstore, Bernard Black. Bernard is devoted to his love of drinking and being deliberately difficult, enriching both his life and that of his assistant Manny. While Manny is kind, sweet, and bearded, he becomes Bernard’s constant target merely for being who he is. Despite the tension, they rely on one another for purpose, much like their long-time friend Fran depends on them for amusement. Within the cozy comfort of “Black Books,” filled with literature, wine, and lively chats, the biggest challenge to their serenity is their own boundless foolishness.
