Celebrity Deathmatch

Overview
“Celebrity Deathmatch” is an innovative claymation TV series where famous personalities face off in a wrestling ring, usually culminating in the opponent’s gory demise. Known for its abundance of blood and exaggerated injuries, the show grabbed viewers’ attention. Eric Fogel brought this vividly creative series to life, with initial episodes airing on MTV in early 1998 and running until late 2002, spanning 75 episodes. A special episode titled “Celebrity Deathmatch Hits Germany” aired on June 21, 2001, yet did not contribute to the series’ final episode count. Stone Cold Steve Austin lent his voice as a guest commentator, adding a touch of authenticity to the chaos. In 2003, MTV hinted at developing a movie of the series, although the idea was ultimately shelved by year’s end.
In 2005, MTV2 resurrected the show as part of their “Sic ‘Em Friday” lineup. Initially slated for a November 2005 release, its return was postponed to June 10, 2006, joining the fresh “Sic’emation” block alongside “Where My Dogs At” and “The Adventures of Chico and Guapo.” Produced by Cuppa Coffee Studios, the fifth season’s premiere shattered records with over 2.5 million viewers, marking MTV2’s highest-rated season debut.
