Jersey Shore

Jersey Shore is a reality TV series originating from the U.S., which aired on MTV from December 3, 2009, to December 20, 2012. Following eight housemates, it captures their summer adventures at the Jersey Shore in New Jersey. In its second season, the crew traded the chilly northeast for the sunny beaches of Miami, only to return to the Jersey Shore in Season 3. The fourth installment took the excitement international as it was filmed in Italy and premiered on August 4, 2011. Returning to familiar grounds, Season 5 kicked off in Seaside Heights on January 5, 2012, concluding on March 15, 2012. Shortly after, on March 19, MTV announced the renewal for a sixth season, which debuted on October 4, 2012, and wrapped up the series by airing the final episode on December 20, 2012.

Despite stirring controversy due to terms like “Guido” and “Guidette,” along with its depiction of Italian-American clichés and backlash for casting non-local residents, the show achieved groundbreaking ratings for MTV, securing its position as the network’s top-rated series telecast ever. Notably, Jersey Shore also played a significant role in embedding various catchphrases into mainstream American culture.
