Jonas

Jonas, initially known as “J.O.N.A.S.”, is a Disney Channel Original Series crafted by Roger S. H. Schulman and Michael Curtis, featuring the popular Jonas Brothers. In this show, the siblings take on the roles of the “Lucas Brothers,” members of the fictitious band “JONAS,” juggling their music careers with attempts to lead ordinary lives amid the challenges of fame. Although production on the pilot began in 2007, the series faced delays due to the Writers Guild of America strike in 2007–2008. Originally slated for filming in January 2008, it was ultimately postponed to September 2008, finally debuting on Disney Channel on May 2, 2009, with on-demand access starting on April 25, 2009.

Marking a significant milestone, Jonas was the first Disney Channel Original Series since “Phil of the Future” not to include a live studio audience or a laugh track. With its Saturday night premiere, Disney aimed to introduce original programming to compete with Nickelodeon’s strong evening lineup. Set against the backdrop of New Jersey, the series was shot at Hollywood Center Studios. Watch “Jonas (2009)” online here.
