Metalocalypse

Metalocalypse is a legendary animated series from America, cultivated by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, that first aired on Adult Swim on August 6, 2006. The series focuses on the colossal death metal band, Dethklok, and delves into themes of violence, mortality, and the pitfalls of celebrity status, illustrated with exaggerated dark humor, justifying its constant TV-MA rating. Both a satire and homage, the show is a nod to heavy metal culture.

The music, attributed to creator and guitarist Brendon Small, is a central feature, appearing in the majority of episodes. With animation that meticulously matches the music, viewers can often spot detailed guitar chord placements and finger movements. A distinctive aspect of Metalocalypse is the substitution of typical “bleeps” for strong profanity with unique pinch harmonics.
