The League of Gentlemen

**The League of Gentlemen** is a British comedy TV series that first aired on BBC Two in 1999, bringing viewers to the quirky enclave of Royston Vasey, a fictional town inspired by Bacup, Lancashire. The narrative centers on the eccentric residents, with most roles performed by three of the show’s four creators—Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, and Reece Shearsmith—who, along with Jeremy Dyson, established the comedy group, The League of Gentlemen, in 1995. Spanning three series from 1999 to 2002 and followed by a feature film in 2005, the show also returned with a special three-part mini-series in December 2017 to mark its 20th anniversary.
