Wheel of Fortune
Trailer
Overview
Wheel of Fortune, an American game show conceptualized by Merv Griffin, involves contestants competing to solve word puzzles—akin to Hangman—for monetary rewards and prizes, with a massive carnival wheel determining their fate. The show began airing during the day on NBC from January 6, 1975, to June 30, 1989, shifted to CBS from July 17, 1989, to January 11, 1991, then briefly returned to NBC from January 14 to September 20, 1991, before its final cancellation. However, the syndicated version, premiering on September 19, 1983, continues to delight audiences. Originally, Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford hosted the daytime version, with Charlie O’Donnell as the announcer; over the years, they were succeeded by Jack Clark, Pat Sajak, and Vanna White. After Clark’s passing in 1988, M.G. Kelly temporarily took over announcing duties until O’Donnell’s return in 1989. When the daytime version ended, Jim Thornton filled O’Donnell’s shoes following his death in 2010. Sajak left the daytime version in January 1989 for The Pat Sajak Show, with Rolf Benirschke and later Bob Goen stepping in until the show’s conclusion. The syndicated iteration continues to be fronted by Sajak and White. Watch “Wheel of Fortune (1983)” online! Stream it for free on cineby or 123Movies and enjoy the thrilling puzzles.
