Song of Parkland

On February 14, 2018, Melody Herzfeld, the drama teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was overseeing rehearsals for the school’s annual children’s musical when the fire alarm sounded. This was quickly followed by a Code Red alert, prompting Herzfeld to swiftly hide with her 65 students in a storage closet, unaware of the tragic unfolding nearby as a shooter ended the lives of 17 teachers and students. “Song of Parkland (2019)” captures this harrowing experience.
