Overview
Set in the summer of 1969, “Summer Crisis (2013)” spins a tale about Bernard, the son of a fisherman from Gaspésie, who travels to Percé in search of employment. Upon arriving, he crosses paths with Paul, Jacques, and Francis, advocates for Quebec Independence who have inaugurated the ‘Fisherman’s House.’ This establishment serves as a hub for organizing public conferences and providing accommodation to young travelers. The once quiet town of Percé soon becomes a melting pot of Quebecers, including artists, hippies, rockers, and hitchhikers, causing quite a stir among the local authorities. Enthralled by the trio’s compelling ideas, Bernard becomes deeply involved in their mission, which leads him to join the Front de Libération du Québec (FLQ) the following year and significantly influence the events of the Summer Crisis 1969.
