The City Below

In “The City Below” (2010), a man and a woman experience a moment of magnetic attraction during an art exhibition, although they cannot act on their feelings. A few days later, fate brings them together once more, leading to a seemingly harmless coffee meeting. Both married, they become increasingly intrigued by their inexplicable draw to one another. As Svenja finds herself in a hotel room with Roland, she refrains from crossing the line into an affair. Roland, a high-powered executive at the bank where Svenja’s husband is employed, is accustomed to getting his way. Manipulatively, he arranges for her husband’s transfer to Indonesia, replacing a recently deceased bank manager, without her knowledge. Unaware of Roland’s machinations, Svenja gradually surrenders to the inevitable. “The City Below” (2010) is available for streaming and can be watched online for free.
