The Forbidden Dance

Set against the backdrop of the Lambada dance fad, if such a movement truly existed, this film attempts to imbue a sense of social responsibility. The story follows a princess, played by Laura Herring, who leaves her Amazon rainforest home to battle a corporation threatening its existence by heading to Los Angeles. There, she encounters a wealthy young man, Jeff James, who advises her that television exposure is crucial for her cause’s success. In a flash, the duo decides that entering a lambada dance contest, which is gaining TV coverage, is the best plan. Adding a touch of humor, Sid Haig joins the cast as a witch doctor accompanying the princess. The Forbidden Dance (1990) is available to watch online.
