The Gilligan Manifesto

During the intense period of the Cold War, “Gilligan’s Island” showcased seven American survivors residing in what could be compared to a post-apocalyptic setting, where they take on the task of reconstructing society. Interestingly, the community they establish operates under a distinctly communist ideology. Insightful interviews with the show’s creator, remaining cast members, and Harvard academics uncover how “Gilligan’s Island” was intentionally crafted to appear as a simple comedy, while subtly promoting Marxism and critiquing Western democratic ideas. **Watch “The Gilligan Manifesto (2018)”** online.
