The Guard

In “The Guard (2011),” two police officers are thrust together to tackle an international drug trafficking operation. The partnership is unconventional, as it pairs an offbeat Irish sergeant, Gerry Boyle, who is renowned for his idiosyncratic personality and dark humor, with the more conventional FBI agent, Wendell Everett. Boyle, stationed in County Galway, operates by his own rules, having spent years developing his unorthodox moral compass. Though he’s seen enough of the world to maintain a cynical outlook, he reluctantly teams up with Everett when a fellow officer goes missing and his quiet town becomes the focus of a major drug investigation.
