The Kleptocrats

In a gripping investigative endeavor, reporters from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Hollywood Reporter tenaciously uncover the scandal involving a staggering $3.5 billion missing from a Malaysian wealth fund. Their relentless pursuit follows the trail of illicit funds through real estate transactions and movie financing, leading straight to the upper echelons of the Malaysian government. Astonishingly, and with a touch of irony, the brazen fraudsters chose to finance the 2014 hit movie, The Wolf of Wall Street. Hollywood elites, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, attended extravagant celebrations organized to promote the film. The masterminds behind this massive embezzlement were the flamboyant Jho Low and Riza Aziz, the stepson of Malaysia’s then-Prime Minister. As the investigation unfolds, the truth emerges, resulting in frozen assets and a significant fallout.
