The Last Man on the Moon

The 1960s marked a remarkable era for the United States, as Americans were focused on groundbreaking endeavors like NASA’s space program, which famously landed Neil Armstrong on the moon. However, it was trailblazing astronauts such as Eugene Cernan who bravely navigated the rocky road to lunar exploration. As a thrill-seeking test pilot, he was chosen alongside 14 others in a covert selection process, forming a close-knit group of friends and rivals. Surrounded by fierce competition, Cernan distinguished himself as one of only three astronauts to visit the moon twice, with his second mission marking NASA’s final lunar excursion. Reflecting on the eight transformative years spent in Houston, Cernan’s life of significant achievements and sacrifices comes to the forefront. Directed by Mark Craig, this quietly epic biography melds unique insights from surviving astronauts with captivating archival footage and surreal lunar landscapes.
