The Monkey King

Sun Wukong, known as The Monkey King, emerges from a celestial stone, gaining extraordinary abilities. After defying the celestial order and being trapped beneath a mountain for five centuries, he eventually joins the monk Xuanzang on an epic quest to India. This journey symbolizes the introduction of Buddhism to ancient China, a tale deeply ingrained in Asian culture, much like The Iliad, The Odyssey, or The Wizard of Oz in the West. This is the first of a trilogy of live-action 3-D films, serving as a prequel to the frequently recounted tale of The Monkey King’s adventures in The Journey to the West.
