The Muse

According to legend, when a human man falls for a mermaid, she can transform her fins into legs, enabling her to leave him forever if she chooses. This leaves the man spellbound and heartbroken. Edward Dunstan (played by Ben Whishaw), a photographer and filmmaker, is entirely captivated by his muse (Kristen McMenamy). His obsession with achieving perfection blinded him to her true essence, leading her to depart from his life. Now, he is left with only his endless reels of images and films of her. This visual evidence is a constant reminder of his loss and a haunting loop of his obsession. Upon reflection, Edward realizes the hardships she faced, and with nothing left, he steps into the dual role of both creator and inspiration.
