The Reader

“The Reader (2008) follows Michael Berg, a German attorney who recalls his youthful affair with Hanna, a woman significantly older than him, during the late 1950s. Although Hanna vanished from his life soon afterward, she reemerges years later as a key defendant in a war crimes tribunal linked to her role as a concentration camp guard during the war’s closing days. Michael discovers her secret: she cannot read, a truth that she hides even if it could lead to her freedom. Streaming enthusiasts can watch ‘The Reader’ free and online on cineby.
