The Rum Diary

Weary from the chaos and monotony of New York City, along with the stifling norms of late Eisenhower America, wandering journalist Paul Kemp finds solace on the untouched shores of Puerto Rico. He joins a local San Juan newspaper, which is under the leadership of the beleaguered editor Lotterman. Engulfed in the rum-filled atmosphere reminiscent of the late ’50s and Hemingway’s “The Lost Generation,” Paul soon finds himself entangled with the alluring American Chenault and her fiancé, Sanderson, a businessman with questionable dealings in land development. Immersed in this vibrant and tumultuous setting, Kemp ultimately unearths his true writer’s voice and personal integrity. The Rum Diary (2011) awaits you online.
