The Secret

In “The Secret (2016),” Kaifeng finds himself battling a severe hangover, haunted by the memory of his beloved wife Qiujie, who perished in a tragic accident. The couple, both enthusiasts of climbing, had embarked on an anniversary trip to conquer a Himalayan peak, but their dream turned into a nightmare when an avalanche struck. Overwhelmed with guilt and longing, Qiujie’s absence weighs heavily on him, knowing she was the center of his world and the mother of their child. In his grief, he turns to a spirit medium, seeking any means to revive her. Miraculously, Qiujie seems to return; however, her memory is blank, erasing her son and the tragedy from her mind. Guided by the medium’s words, “Only those who love Qiujie will see her spirit,” Kaifeng learns he must conceal her spiritual state to prevent her from vanishing forever. His sole task now is to maintain this facade for as long as possible alongside their son.
