The Secret Science of Pop

Evolutionary biologist Professor Armand Leroi is convinced that data science has the power to change the pop music scene. To test this theory, he assembles a group of scientists and researchers to study more than five decades of UK chart music. The question at hand is: Can algorithms uncover the formula for pop success? Upon receiving the results, Armand collaborates with acclaimed producer Trevor Horn. Together, they harness machine-learning technologies in an attempt to transform a track by unsigned artist Nike Jemiyo into a potential hit. Watch The Secret Science of Pop (2017).
