The Sky Above Zenica

In the city of Zenica, a colossal steel plant releases toxic fumes around the clock, leading to one of the planet’s most polluted environments, and sadly, costing lives. Amidst this dire situation, Samir Lemes and other Eko Forum activists challenge the company’s irresponsibility, battling against local politicians who prioritize jobs, investments, and political gains, as well as the EU, which funds the factory without implementing necessary regulations and international standards. Ironically, the city is branded by the EU as ‘A Green City Project,’ where they build bicycle lanes despite the air being hazardous to health. This film highlights the issues of financial hypocrisy, political pragmatism, and the misleading practices of greenwashing where Western European nations have an unexpectedly significant influence.
