The Super

Joe Pesci takes on the role of Louie Kritski, an unscrupulous landlord who has completely ignored his rundown apartment building, leading to the threat of imprisonment. Instead of going to jail, Louie is given an alternative by the judge — he has to reside in the same bleak conditions he imposed on his tenants until substantial improvements are made. He has 120 days to achieve this, during which time he gets to know the residents, such as a drug dealer named Marlon played by Ruben Blades. As Louie interacts more with the tenants, he starts understanding their struggles and realizes the damage caused by his own avarice. However, a major obstacle stands in his way: his father, Big Lou Kritski, played by Vincent Gardenia, who is the true owner of the building and refuses to invest any money for renovations.
