The Thing About My Folks

One evening, Ben’s father, Sam, unexpectedly arrives with a note from Ben’s mother, announcing she’s left after 46 years of marriage. As Ben’s wife and his three sisters launch a search for her, Ben decides to take Sam on what starts as a simple day trip to a farmhouse that’s on the market. This outing transforms into an impromptu road trip, where father and son delve into their history, relationship, and the potential reasons behind Sam’s wife’s departure. Along the way, they engage in fishing, drinking, playing pool, and even spend a night under the stars, having candid conversations. Underneath it all, feelings of anger, love, and hope simmer just beneath the surface. Ultimately, the reason for Sam’s wife’s disappearance is revealed and the movie reaches its resolution.
