Set in the vibrant eighties, “Tot altijd” follows a close-knit group of friends basking in the highs and lows of their youthful adventures and romantic pursuits. In the passage of time, Thomas, a fresh medical graduate, finds himself in a dilemma, caught between helping and watching as his dearest friend Mario is diagnosed with the challenging condition of MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Although not directly life-threatening, the disease progressively erodes bodily functions and sometimes mental faculties. Driven by his struggles, Mario rises as the face of “Waardig Sterven” (“Dignified Death”), advocating for the legalization of euthanasia in Belgium. Determined to fight for his friend’s life, Thomas confronts the heartache of witnessing Mario’s relentless decline.
