Tortoise in Love

“Tortoise in Love” is an uplifting romantic comedy that echoes the charm of films like *Local Hero*, *Calendar Girls*, and *The Full Monty*. The story revolves around a man whose love life moves at an exceedingly slow pace, and the various antics of a village determined to speed up his romantic pursuits. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Vale of the White Horse, Oxfordshire, the film benefits from a charmingly communal production effort. Remarkably, the entire village of Kingston Bagpuize came together to bring this movie to life, with young mothers managing sales, publicity, and design, while retirees assisted with logistical support, such as driving and props. The Women’s Institute played a key role by organizing an impressive catering operation, and during filming, all cast and crew were warmly accommodated in local homes.
