Troubadours

Following the chaos of the 1960s, a fresh wave of songwriting emerged, characterized by an intense focus on personal reflection and raw emotion. Accompanied by nothing more than an acoustic guitar or a simple piano, these innovative voices flocked to Los Angeles, which was rapidly becoming the heart of the American music industry. Their haven for self-expression was an old beatnik folk club aptly named The Troubadour. TROUBADOURS explores the journey of Carole King, James Taylor, and the singer-songwriter scene in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The film also weaves together the fascinating tale of the renowned Troubadour club, which solidified their musical legacy, the enigmatic impresario Doug Weston who managed it, and the prolific careers of some of the era’s, and perhaps history’s, greatest songwriters: from Carole King and James Taylor to Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Joni Mitchell, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Eagles, and many more.
