Twisted Justice

Drawing inspiration from one of Japan’s most notorious police scandals, Kazuya Shiraishi crafted an expansive and dark crime saga reminiscent of Kinji Fukasaku’s legendary yakuza films. Twisted Justice, set in the 1970s on Hokkaido’s streets, follows Detective Moroboshi (played by Go Ayano) as his moral compass spirals downward over thirty years. Despite his inexperience, Moroboshi soon becomes hardened and dangerously familiar with the criminal world, especially under the influence of his mentor, Murai (Pierre Taki). As the young officer embraces the seedy underbelly of law enforcement, he transforms into an intimidating figure nearly indistinguishable from the gangsters. A gripping tale, Twisted Justice peels away the polished bravado of the crime genre to reveal its raw heart.
