Waves of War

In “Waves of War (2023),” Daan van Citters and Joenoes Polnaija delve into their family histories by retracing their grandfathers’ paths in Indonesia, where both fought for the Netherlands against Indonesian independence. Daan’s grandfather participated by choice from the Netherlands, while Joenoes’s was a Moluccan soldier in the Dutch colonial army, KNIL. This emotional exploration compels them to confront challenging questions about guilt, shame, and the passing of these emotions through generations. “Waves of War (2023)” is available to stream online for free on cineby.
